About Myself

I am a open mind, progressive person and would look for the same in a family.

I am 28 year old Oregon Native. I hold a BFA from California Institute of the Arts in Film/Video along with being an active painter and artist. I have been working for the last five years in various teaching positions. Last year I just finished up my second year at Oregon Episcopal School, where i was one of two lead extended care teachers in the first and second grade division. I also have been working with ChildWork learning center as a substitute teacher with age 3-5 years of age.

I am a warm loving positive person who has a passion for working with children and loves to help them learn both though play and progressive methods. I see myself as more a teacher then a nanny, hope to bring that kind of energy to the job. I am going to be working towards a MA in Education starting in Summer, and expect that will influence my work positively.

Most of all, I just love working with children, I love their energy and zest for life. I have spend a lot of my life doing other types of jobs, but find working with children brings me the most joy. I find I have a easy going spirit that makes children comfortable and at ease.

During the summer and during my years at OES, I have built a relationship with a few families, for which I have done and continue to do child care for. During this time I have built an almost mentor like relationship with the children helping them with school work and creative projects and just enjoying being a kid. I really enjoy helping children grow and learn. At OES I worked with children ages 4-8 years old everyday. I also oldest of three kids and I grow up taking care of my brother and sister. I also a great cook and cook with the kids at OES, but also with the kids I babysit for. I even worked last year as Cooking teacher at Young Chef's Academy, where I lead groups of up to 20 kids though cooking projects.

I also pride myself on being a person who works well on his feet, Multitasking and thinking outside the box to solve problems big and small. I am laid back and try to take life as it comes to me.

I have all the current standards for working with children in Oregon, including CPR and First Aid training. I have had a background check with Oregon Criminal History Registry and my Number is R227191. It is current until March 05, 2010. I am also available to start when needed.

I also have a list of references and letters of recommendations which I would be happy to email you if you are interested in my post.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to getting to meet your family speaking with you in further detail about this opportunity.

my rate for up to 2 children is 12-15 Per hour depending amount of extra work involved . Also willing to work out a per week or month payment. I could lower my rate for some extra benefits like paying for gas or use of family car, sick leave and insurance.
